Three Arsenal players Mikel Arteta could allow to leave in the January transfer window

The Gunners could look to move a few players on from the Emirates Stadium when the transfer window reopens next month, with Mikel Arteta looking to push Arsenal to a Premier League title.

The January transfer window is just a week from opening and it promises to be a huge one for Arsenal. The Gunners find themselves five points clear at the top of the Premier League and football.london understands that they are keen to strengthen the team if possible.

Much of the talk has been on bolstering the forward areas after injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe have left them slightly light. Mykhaylo Mudryk is the man who has been consistently linked in that area of the pitch, but there are other targets thought to be on the list as wel

Karl Hein

Arsenal’s third choice goalkeeper endured a tough debut in which he gave away a penalty that allowed Brighton to come back into the game and eventually knock the Mikel Arteta ‘s men out of the Carabao Cup. Since then though Hein has rebounded well and won several plaudits for his performances during matches in Dubai where he was superb in penalty shootouts against AC Milan and Lyon.

However, with the Gunners now out of the Carabao Cup it’s difficult to see where Hein’s next set of games are going to come from. Matt Turner will surely be given the FA Cup games and most Europa League matches, while Aaron Ramsdale is the undisputed number one.

Hein has been on loan before and impressed for Reading before an injury cut his spell short last season. Having said that though, there is not too much experience beyond him despite the impressive performances of Hubert Graczyk at Under-21s level this season. The fact that Arsenal didn’t loan out third choice keeper Arthur Okonkwo in the second half of last season could be a sign of what they plan to do with the Estonian.

Cedric Soares

It’s been an unfortunate first half of the season for Cedric who has found game time hard to come by. A mixture of injuries and the transition of Ben White to right back mean that he has played just 119 minutes for the first team this season.

EPLUPDATE understands that there have been some talks with Fulham and Bayer Leverkusen over a potential move for the 31-year-old. With a year-and-a-half on his contract and so much strength in depth at right back with Takehiro Tomiyasu as well, the Gunners could be tempted to let him go.

Mikel Arteta is still a huge fan of the Portuguese international though and has consistently praised him for his work ethic despite his playing situation. It will be interesting to see what happens if an agreeable offer is put forward for him.

Marquinhos

This may be one that happens closer to the end of the window, but if Mykhaylo Mudryk does come in next month, then Arsenal could look at loaning out Marquinhos. The Brazilian surprised many with his fast start to life in north London in which he scored and assisted in their Europa League opening day win over FC Zurich.

Since then though opportunities have been much more limited for the 19-year-old who has found himself playing with the Under-21s on occasions. At such a crucial stage in his career he needs game time to adapt to European football and a move elsewhere could be smart.

It’s also worth considering that once Jesus, Smith Rowe and Nelson are all fit again, Marquinhos’ chances of regular minutes will surely be slim. Arsenal considered sending him out on loan in the summer, and they may look to do so this time around.
