TRANSFER UPDATE: Arsenal interest in Brazillian star for two major reasons

Arsenal have cooled their interest in Palmeiras midfielder Danilo after Mikel Arteta and Edu ‘went cold’ on the Brazilian.

The Gunners had two bids for the 21-year-old rejected in the summer, with Arteta adamant that his squad needed an extra midfielder.

With Palmeiras refusing to sell, Arsenal made a dramatic deadline day move for Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz but he has since signed a new deal at Villa Park.

Though Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have impressed so far this term, Arteta feels central midfield is an area of weakness that could undermine the Gunners’ title challenge.

Danilo is valued at £30m

But Danilo’s hopes of moving to the Emirates now appear over, with reports in Brazil stating that the Gunners have ‘cooled’ their interest in him for two reasons.

Firstly, Danilo failed to make Brazil’s World Cup squad and was overlooked for a friendly against Japan in October.
