Mikel Arteta sends congratulatory message to Man City after title win confirmed

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has, on Saturday evening, sent a message to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

How Man City continued their era of Premier League dominance
This, of course, comes after the Gunners’ Premier League title bid was brought to an official end.

Arteta and co. were back in action a short time ago, making the trip to Nottingham Forest in the knowledge that a 2nd defeat on the spin would hand the title to Man City for the fifth time in six years.

When all was said and done at the City Ground, though, emerge on the wrong side of the result is precisely what Arsenal went on to do.

This came as a solitary Taiwo Awoniyi strike proved enough to guide hosts Forest to the right side of a 1-0 result.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the Premier League trophy heading back to Manchester, rather than north London, was put to the aforementioned Mikel Arteta.

And Arsenal’s boss, to his credit, was quick to send his congratulations to his ex-club, albeit whilst also admitting to the understandable air of disappointment across his squad:

“Congratulations to City for winning the championship and obviously a really sad day for us after everything we have done in the season but now we have to face the reality.”
