CONFIRMED: Chelsea in advanced talks with €35m-rated France international

Benjamin Pavard might have a change of heart as a lack of game time could force the defender to alter his decision, and Chelsea could exploit the situation. The London giants had hoped to secure France international’s signature in the summer as Thomas Tuchel had loved the idea of employing him at Chelsea.

But Todd Boehly was interested in other footballers. Chelsea went on to splash more than £150m to strengthen their back-line. But none of the signings have made an instant impact. Fofana has been on the sidelines, and he will have to wait till the conclusion of the World Cup to don the Chelsea jersey again.

Koulibaly and Cucurella are yet to make their mark, and Graham Potter will be given an opportunity to bolster his defence with adequate transfer kitty. Rudiger, Christensen and Alonso left Chelsea in the summer, and the Blues have not been able to call up their replacements.

Pavard has expressed his disgust several times, and the current situation might suggest the footballer won’t extend his stay beyond his current deal.

His versatility makes him one of the most coveted players, and the London giants will be adamant to pull the deal off next summer. Benjamin will enter the last year of his deal next summer, and it might help the London club in their negotiations a bit.
