Stan Kroenke transfer prediction emerges after Arsenal player makes huge decision

Folarin Balogun’s decision to represent the USMNT rather than England could have huge ramifications beyond Arsenal.

Balogun has opted to make himself available to the United States of America rather than England, where he grew up, or Nigeria who he qualifies for through his parents. The New York native, who has sparkled on loan at Reims in the French top tier last season, has another decision to make with his club future up in the air.

Balogun has plundered 20 goals for Reims in his breakout campaign this season and with a first-team spot unlikely with Mikel Arteta’s first team setup next season, a departure could be on the cards. Arsenal stand to make a good amount on Balogun after his season in France, with German side RB Leipzig said to be interested in signing the England Under-21 international.

The Gunners can realistically command a fee north of £20 million for Balogun, who is unlikely to climb above Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka or Eddie Nketiah in Arteta’s pecking order up front. However, might Balogun’s decision to represent the USMNT make Arsenal re-consider selling the player?

Arsenal are not time-bound by Balogun’s contract, given it runs out in 2025, but would be wise to consider selling while his stock is high. Arsenal’s American owners, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment run by Stan Kroenke, could decide to keep him around if they see value in his committing to the US.

Indeed, that is what has been suggested by some Arsenal supporters on social media. The Gunners are trying to grow their revenues in the US and worldwide so having a key player for the USMNT, ahead of the 2026 World Cup which is being held in North America, would be useful.

That all hinges on Balogun proving himself at the top level, which he has yet to do. “My biggest question is do Kroenke’s block his move out now? He was destined to leave,” one Arsenal fan said on social media while another added: “The Kroenke’s are definitely not going to let him leave. He’ll be the face of the USMNT.”

A third Gunners supporter said: “If he has chosen the USMNT, I don’t see the Kroenkes wanting him to leave in the summer.”
